Margaret & Simon’s Spring Wedding

I knew I was going to enjoy this day after having caught up with Margaret & Simon a few weeks before to shoot their pre-wedding session. Margaret & Simon’s day was utterly gorgeous – a lovely couple – clearly made for each other, surrounded by their families and friends some of whom they had not seen in years, a beautiful dress by Alan Hannah, pretty bridesmaids in yellow dresses and spring inspired flowers.

It’s not usual for me to get a little emotional during a ceremony and this was no exception, Margaret’s mothers singing brought tears to my eyes.

The venue, Balbirnie House was such a pleasure to work at, the staff are very friendly and attentive and made the whole day run like clockwork. I look forward to shooting here again in May.

A few weeks prior to the wedding Margaret & Simon headed down to Coburg Studios in Leith to make their own wedding rings. I had heard of this before but didn’t really know too much about it. You are assisted by jewellers Donna Barry & Hannah Louise Lamb in their professional jewellery workshop as they guide you through step by step to help create your very own one-off, unique wedding rings. Click here to see Margaret & Simon in action. On another note if you haven’t yet been to Coburg Studios I highly recommend popping down on one of their open days to see what wonderful artistry goes on.

Pre-wedding Shoot on Calton Hill

The wedding season has started and has been rather busy for me so far, therefore I’m a little late in posting this one! I did this shoot a couple of months back on a rather windy but sunny saturday morning up on Edinburgh’s Calton Hill. The fabulous Edinburgh landmark was chosen by Mhairi and Yaasir for their pre-wedding session as this is where Yaasir proposed! Mhairi and Yaasir are actually already married but are doing it again in May at Balbirnie House in Markinch.

An American Elopement

This was Maureen & Keith’s first visit to Edinburgh, they came over from the States for a few weeks to get married, see the city and parts of Scotland.

I can’t tell you how much I was looking forward to this day. To have a bride & groom all to your self for 2hrs was a real privilege, usually I get 30 mins max! A wedding day is typically fast paced with the pressures of time always on your mind so it was fantastic to spend a bit of time creating a fabulous set of photographs for Maureen & Keith. As well as being their photographer I was delighted to act as their witness to their marriage in the City Chambers. Maureen is a photographer herself which makes me really pleased that she choose me for my talents. They wanted images that captured traditional Edinburgh so we ventured around the old town taking in the Royal Mile, St Giles cathedral, Princes Street Gardens with Edinburgh Castle as a backdrop ending with a trip up Arthurs Seat which, to our delight it started to snow…thankfully by which time we were finished the shoot and didn’t get too cold! Coming from LA, Maureen & Keith don’t see snow that often!

Maureen’s hair was done by the amazing talents at Miss Dixiebelle and flowers from Narcissus Flowers on Broughton Street.

I wish you both all best for your future together and hope to catch up again either here or in LA!
